Lambda Literary Foundation
Non-profit organization dedicated to the recognition and
promotion of gay, lesbian, transgender, and bisexual writing.
Includes:
The
Lambda Book Report is an award-winning monthly review of
contemporary lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender literature and
has had as contributors virtually all of the nation’s best writers
including Dorothy Allison, Lillian Faderman, Andrew Holleran, Felice
Picano, Patricia Nell Warren, and the late John Preston.
The
James White Review was transferred to the Foundation in 1997
from the original publisher, Phil Wilkie. The James White Review
is devoted to publishing gay men’s literature, showcasing new voices
in poetry, criticism, visual arts, and fiction.
One of the programs operated by the Foundation is the annual
Lambda Literary Awards
Banquet. A juried award with a rigorous selection process, the “Lammy”
has become the standard of excellence in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgendered publishing.
The newest program managed by the Lambda Literary Foundation is the
Literary Festival. The event has taken on a national scope and is
designed to appeal to both readers and writers alike.
